Event Series Event Series: Method Acting March Homework AM

The AM or PM Monday classes are the Homework. This is a backup where you learn to build on the techniques of Lee Strasberg to bring more techniques into the studio session. You will also learn to work in your own space, as you must do self-taping or prep before going on set. You also expand your application into scene work. You only need to attend one Tech HOMEWORK class per week, but you are welcome to come to more each week; there is no extra charge. Classes run AM or PM, so there is flexibility to work around other demands.

The Studio gives the expansive space to build both technique and scene work. Homework is the primary place to build your foundation; the Studio is where you can play & create more with what is technically evolving. Acting is both personal and collective, so working from both spaces enables you to meet each step and each challenge.

The Studio Technique and  Scene Study expand into the space as they would coming to the Film Set or Stage.

Scene Work engages the primary work of understanding the character and the situation of the drama. Who is this person, and what do they want or need? What is happening between the characters? How you work primarily from the text. Now, in studio classes and scene studies, you can bring much more action and choices into play, and the intuitive use of impulse can lead to a greater understanding of and relationship with the character and story. Where you find the actor you want to be, the Actor you can be.

HOMEWORK

The 4-week fee is £310.

Studio Craft

The face-to-face work now has true meaning in the context of the homework. The primary homework preparation means that the studio space becomes a studio to explore and expand the primary work you have established in homework. It becomes a more organic opportunity to examine the potential of your instrument and your creative process, where you can pull apart and engage both the character and the text—building a richer ability and a greater understanding of yourself and the opportunities of acting.

Studio Intensive

The intensity in the studio presents challenges and opportunities for the camera or the stage. On Friday, we dive into scene study. Saturday, we start with technique. Now, you can bring both technique and craft into play. Either in your scene or the opportunity to observe fellow class members reaching out to fulfil such creative challenges. Everybody will work with sense memory and text on Saturday morning, evolving the ability to work from their thoughts, impulses and emotions regardless of whether they are working on a scene that day. This gets to the core that an Actor must develop the ability to create from a heightened state of self while obtaining the lucidity of creative thinking.

The Choice

As Stanislavski said, talent is in the choice. Nothing is automatic, particularly in acting. The specific steps of the four-week unit are designed for you to engage and unlock your true creative potential properly. To develop the sensibility and creative muscles to take on the challenges and opportunities of the professional acting industry.
